Course - writing children's stories
The Stories for Malaysian Kids now includes an 18-hour course (9 x 2hour sessions) about writing children's stories, specifically for Malaysian kids. (Click on the link)

It is easy to receive updates on the progress of the Stories for Malaysian Kids project by going to the Stories Blog (click on the link) and then look for the RSS feed button.
Meeting with children from Teaching School
Ruth and Azlinda, with the assistance of IPG students, met with children from the Teaching School to obtain materials and ideas for the "Stories for Malaysian Kids" project. (Follow the link to read more about this project). More photos of this event can be viewed here.

We met with the children in the Teaching School to read to them and show them the booklets and Little Books with the stories in.

Results of the Story Writing Competition(for IPG Students)

Story Writing Competition (for IPG students)
All students (not just TESL) at IPGKDRI were offered an incentive through a competition to write a story about childhood in Malaysia. Stories had to be written in English, but were judged on the story rather than the quality of the written English (as long as it could be understood).
Suggested themes are:
As well as rewarding the best stories, it is hoped that the stories can be edited and then made available on the Stories for Malaysian Kids website, and also compiled into a book to be (hopefully) sent to a publisher when the opportunity arises.

- "A favourite object from my childhood"
- "The happiest day I can remember"
- "A sad moment in my childhood"
- "The day everything changed"
